Introducing the Xcore86+
1. The Xcore86 is 70% faster than the original Xcore86
2. The Xcore86+ offers higher resolution and can support full HD 1080p resolution
3. The Xcore86+ supports 1GB of RAM
The Xcore86 and Xcore86+ are both available. 512 modules feature the Xcore86 while 1GB modules feature the Xcore86+.
Complete x586 Device on Chip (TM) DoC
Complete PC motherboard on a single chip. Includes minimum 1Ghz CPU, FPU, System I/O (parallel port, GPIO, RS232, USB 2.0), SD to IDE, Flash BIOS, Lan on Chip, Video, Sound, JTAG, MTBF countdown timer and watchdog timer. Consumes less than 2 watts of power at 1Ghz.
The Xcore86 is the lowest cost, most energy efficient platform available to support existing x86 operating systems and applications. The Xcore86 doesn't require a fan or massive heatsink, allowing it to be sealed to operate in harsh environments. The Xcore86 can be used with 4 and 6 layer boards (depending on size and application).
Today's barriers to connectivity are size, energy, environment and cost. Xcore is focused on building devices that overcome all of these barriers. Using the Xcore86 DoC, Xcore will build devices (anything) that allow anyone to communicate from anywhere at anytime.
We are all now part of an interconnected world where it is possible to communicate instantly with anyone, anyplace at anytime providing we have technology, electricity and connectivity. The familiar form factors, desktops and laptops, are not designed for ubiquitous connectivity. Desktops are too big and require too much energy while laptops are too expensive, too big and too fragile. Smart phones and PDAs are small but they don't run existing x86 applications, have low-resolution screens and have limited storage. Xcore designs, manufactures and integrates devices that can run existing applications based on Microsoft Windows, Linux, BSD, Solaris and other x86 Operating Systems, that are small, energy efficient and inexpensive.
Traditional system integrators start with either a desktop or laptop and then customize them by adding cards, peripherals and other components. Xcore designs custom solutions using the Xcore86 Device on Chip (DoC). The Xcore86 DoC is a complete computer on a chip the size of a postage stamp. Xcore designs devices from scratch which are smaller, more energy efficient, more rugged, and less expensive than solutions that are simply slapped together by traditional system integrators.
The Xcore86 Device on Chip (TM) DoC is the world's most energy efficient x86 CPU. The Xcore86 DoC consumes only 1.2 Watts at 1Ghz clock speed. It generates so little heat in the process that no fan is required. The Xcore86 can operate in hot climates without the need for air conditioning. Depending on the design, devices using the Xcore86 can operate up to 70 C or 85 C.
